Objectives

The students are capable of classifying and understanding the socio-political and historical aspects of court decisions regarding their references to the basic rights of the constitution as well as finding such acceptable soultions themselves. Ater the completion of the module, the students are able to critically analyse legal arguments. At the same time the students are able to scientifically deal with a complex problem through autonomous research.

Description

The seminar covers basic rights in-depth (e.g. Art. 1 I, Art. 2 I, Art. 5 GG) and focuses on the decision making of the Federal Constitutional Court know as „Praktische Konkordanz“. The reviewed cases are inspired by decisions players have to make in video games and other legal questions regarding the e-sport scene. Furthermore the seminar covers concepts, organization and structure of the German court system, specifically constitutional judicature. Additonally guest lectures will give input from their perspective and highlight the practical relevance.
