Academic Career and Research Areas

Simon Jarvers is a Doctoral Candidate and Research Associate at the Professorship of Societal Computing at the TUM School of Social Sciences and Technology. His research focuses on AI Governance Implementation in AI Startups, exploring how resource-constrained organizations can effectively integrate governance into their software development processes.
Simon combines his doctoral work with his role as AI Governance & Implementation Specialist at Augmented Industries, developing AI-powered industrial training solutions and execution assistance systems. This positioning enables him to bridge academic governance research with real-world implementation challenges in SMEs, researching how compliance obligations can align with product quality goals rather than creating administrative burden.
Simon holds a B.Sc. in Engineering Science and an M.Sc. in Robotics, Cognition, Intelligence from TUM, including a research stay at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. Before his doctoral studies, he worked at a computer vision AI startup and he is a former scholar of the Foundation of German Business (Stiftung der Deutschen Wirtschaft). Through his research, he aims to facilitate responsible AI governance by developing and implementing practical frameworks that make trustworthy AI development accessible to organizations of all sizes.
