Academic Career and Research Areas

Michèle Wieland’s research interests lie at the intersection of artificial intelligence and society. She directs her research towards building algorithmic solutions that promote positive societal changes while avoiding the reinforcement of stereotypes.

Michèle pursued her undergraduate studies at a university of applied sciences, majoring in economics and engineering. She transferred to ETH to enhance her theoretical understanding of artificial intelligence by studying statistics in her master’s. For her master’s thesis, she joined the Institute for Societal Computing at the School of Social Science and Technology at the Technical University of Munich.
