Job Posting: Open Positions for Doctoral Students and Postdoctoral Researchers, July 2024

I am hiring multiple Ph.D. students and Postdoctoral researchers for the newly founded Human-Centered Computing Lab (https://www.gov.sot.tum.de/hcc/home/) at the Technical University of Munich, School of Social Science and Technology. Come join our international team of interdisciplinary researchers and be part of building a new lab at the forefront of computational social science and social NLP!

At the Human-Centered Computing Lab at TU Munich, we leverage large-scale data to discover theories and patterns of societal behavior. We advance and leverage methods from natural language processing, network analysis/ network science, and machine learning and AI, and integrate them with theories from the social sciences and humanities. With this work, we advance knowledge and discovery about socio-technical systems and responsible computing. We consider social contexts and ethical concerns for data analysis.

I am looking for people with a background in at least one of the following disciplines: computer science, natural language processing, machine learning and AI, network analysis / network science, informatics, information science, social science (computational or not), and closely related fields.

I will provide you with training and mentoring in research, teaching, and service. I will offer you opportunities to conduct team-based and individual research. You will also have opportunities to engage in service, outreach, and mentoring. You will contribute to TUM’s curriculum through teaching and/ or assisting with teaching.

The positions are full-time (100%) and can be reduced upon request. The positions are not remote. International candidates are most welcome to apply!

The open positions are TV-L E13 jobs at up to 100%. Payment will be based on the Collective Agreement for the Civil Service of the Länder (TV-L).
