Dr. Tristan Radtke (LinkedIn, ResearchGate) is a postdoctoral researcher (Akademischer Rat auf Zeit) at the Chair of Law and Regulation of the Digital Transformation of Prof. Dr. Boris P. Paal, M.Jur. (Oxford). After his studies and the first state examination at the University of Muenster and the Higher Regional Court of Hamm (2014-2019), he first worked as a research assistant in an international law firm (2019) and finally as an academic assistant to Prof. Dr. Boris P. Paal, M.Jur. (Oxford) at the University of Freiburg (2020-2021).
In 2021, he completed his PhD on the topic of Joint Control under the General Data Protection Regulation. The thesis is available Open Access and was awarded the GRUR Dissertation Prize in Data and Information Law in 2021. In 2021-2022, he completed an LL.M. program at NYU School of Law with funding from the DAAD and majored in ‘Competition, Innovation and Information Law’. He then completed his legal clerkship at the Higher Regional Court of Braunschweig including working for the State Commissioner for Data Protection of Lower Saxony and a boutique law firm for IT, data protection and data law.
Currently, he is pursuing a habilitation project in civil law at the Technical University of Munich. In his research, he focuses on issues of civil law with a particular focus on the implications of digitalization for the law, data, data protection and intellectual property law (to the list of publications as PDF). In the past, he has worked on legal issues relating to topics such as scoring and artificial intelligence, the sharing economy, influencer marketing, microtargeting, streaming and secondary publishing under copyright law.
